Green electricity is produced from renewable energy sources or quality
cogeneration where the production system generates a minimum 10% level
of carbon dioxide savings in relation to total carbon dioxide emissions,
defined and published annually by the CWaPE, from a standard production
using modern facilities.
(Decree of 30 November 06, Art. 2, 5°)
Green certificates
A green certificate (REC) is a certificate awarded by the Walloon
regulatory body, the CWaPE, to green electricity suppliers for a number
of KwH produced corresponding to one MWh divided by the level of carbon
dioxide savings (decree of 30 November 06, §2 and §4). On
a quarterly basis, we send the energy output statements to the CWaPE.
On the basis of this, the CWaPE awards us the RECs.
Once we are in possession of these certificates, they are valid for
a period of 5 years, allowing us to negotiate with any active buyers
on the market, irrespective of the sale of the physical electricity
produced.
Pellets
Our pellets are solid and cylindrical in structure (1-5 cm in length,
8mm Ø) produced from a homogenate of natural compressed wood.
The monthly production is approximately 12,500 tons, which amounts
to an annual production capacity of 150,000 tons. Our production lines
are powered exclusively by our own high-quality tailings (sawdust
and wood chips).
We are in the process of working towards obtaining Din+ standard certification
for pellets with a diameter of 6 mm.
